Danica & Ryan

Danica and Ryan were married at a very special place.

Bambu Indah is located on the Sayan Gorge in Ubud, Bali. To call it a ‘resort’ or even an ‘eco-resort’ doesn’t come close to doing it justice; I’m not sure words can. The bamboo structures, timber huts, paths and streams seamlessly intertwine with the lush green jungle. The divide between man and nature seems to disappear. It is a deeply moving and inspiring place for those fortunate enough to experience it.

Danica and Ryan travelled all the way from Canada to be married here. It was such a pleasure to witness their enthusiastic and adventurous spirit. When I first saw and experienced Bambu Indah I realised why they (along with their closest family and friends) had travelled so far. Everyone graciously welcomed me innto their group. We had a lot of fun toghether and it made it even more of a memorable experience to capture.

Rochelle & Wally

When I am photographing, the fact that a wedding is happening takes a back seat to what is really going on. What is going on you ask? Life – that’s what is going on. Everything is going on; the wind blowing in the trees, rain drops tapping on a window, a mother hugging her daughter, a child running along the beach. The more we immerse ourselves in life, the more we feel, and the more we see. For me, photographing a wedding day is no different.

Rochelle and Wally are a special pair. They seem to be at home when they are together. They are happy, caring and fun loving people. For these guys life is all about friends, family, wine and pug dogs. I think we can all learn a lot from that, don’t you think?
